After attack, Oasis postpones Canadian concert

Oasis has postponed its September 9 concert at the John Labatt Center in London, ON, due to injuries sustained during an on-stage attack on Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher on September 7 at Toronto's Virgin Festival.

During their performance, a man (referred to on the band's Web site as "an invader") rushed Gallagher from the back of the stage and shoved him from behind. Gallagher fell heavily on to his monitor speakers, bruising his hip and ribs; he was examined briefly at a hospital, and his doctor advised him to rest. The incident can be viewed on YouTube, with video captured via a concertgoer's cell phone.

Live Nation, the concert promoter, has rescheduled the show for December 15. Tickets will be honored for the replacement show.

"Despite resting up yesterday, the extent of [Noel Gallagher's] injuries mean he will not be able to perform tonight," Live Nation said in a statement. "The band is very keen to complete their Canadian tour and options for rescheduling the final London, Ontario show are currently being looked into. Ticketholders are asked to retain their tickets until a further announcement is made."

Following the incident on Sunday night, Gallagher's attacker was hauled offstage by security guards. After a 15-minute break, the band returned to the stage to finish their set before checking Gallagher into the hospital. The assailant, identified in published reports as 47-year-old Daniel Sullivan, was charged with assault and released.
