Bryan Adams tour adds new block of solo acoustic concerts in 2009
With his next round of U.S. acoustic performances just a week away, singer-songwriter Bryan Adams has announced plans for more intimate concerts in 2009. The upcoming jaunt launches November 28 at Town Hall in Seattle, WA, and concludes December 7 at Ikeda Theatre in Mesa, AZ.
The new round of dates begins with a January 6 concert at King Center in Melbourne, FL, and is scheduled to wrap with a January 16 gig at Symphony Hall in Atlanta, GA. The 11-date jaunt features a January 11 stop at Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN, and a January 14 show at Carolina Theatre in Durham, NC.
Most onsales for the January outing began November 14, according to the rocker's official Web site. A limited number of VIP Meet & Greet ticket packages are also available for select dates during the tour of the Southeast.
As with the rocker's upcoming concerts, all dates during the January trek will be solo acoustic performances. Adams has played in this style throughout his 2008 touring season as a way to blend his new material with his mostly electric body of work.
"I think for a lot of people that haven't heard me do [an acoustic show] before, it will be intriguing because to play a song like 'Cuts Like a Knife' on acoustic guitar is quite a different thing than hearing it with a full band," Adams explained over the summer. "I believe that that will give some insight into the songwriting, and it shows that some of the new songs blend in. It's like one solid body of work."
Adams has been touring in support of his 2008 release, "11," which peaked at No. 7 on Billboard's Independent Albums chart and at No. 80 on the Billboard 200.
