Bryan Adams tour takes on Canada in winter 2009
After completing a January tour of the South, rock musician Bryan Adams will head north of the border for a dozen shows in his native Canada. The new round of dates picks up February 8 at The Port Theatre in Nanimo, BC, and wraps March 14 at the John Labatt Centre in London, ON.
The trek is split into two legs, according to Adams's Web site: a round of acoustic dates in February and a full-band arena tour in March. Highlights for both sets of dates include a February 11 show at Francis Winspear Centre For Music in Edmonton, AB, a March 8 concert at Sudbury Arena in Sudbury, ON, and a March 10 gig at Copps Coliseum in Hamilton, ON.
Presales are not available for any of the Canadian concerts. Ticket onsales begin Friday, December 19 for all dates.
The outing comes on the tail end of an 11-show acoustic tour of the southern U.S., which is scheduled to run from January 6 at the King Center in Melbourne, FL, through January 16 at Symphony Hall in Atlanta, GA.
Adams is supporting his most recent studio album, "11," which hit stores on March 7 and peaked at No. 80 on the Billboard 200. Since the spring, the rocker has promoted his album across North America with several legs of solo acoustic concerts. The musician thinks the solo performances will give his audience a new perception of his music.
"I think for a lot of people that haven't heard me do [an acoustic show] before, it will be intriguing because to play a song like 'Cuts Like a Knife' on acoustic guitar is quite a different thing than hearing it with a full band," Adams said over the summer. "I believe that that will give some insight into the songwriting, and it shows that some of the new songs blend in. It's like one solid body of work."
