Buckcherry and Avenged Sevenfold tour adds new dates in 2009

By Allison Reitz

Hard rock crews Buckcherry and Avenged Sevenfold have announced that they will extend their co-headlining tour into 2009. The newly expanded itinerary will feature an additional two bands for support -- Papa Roach and Saving Abel -- with tickets priced to sell.

Only two dates have been confirmed for the second leg of the North American outing, g the opening show on January 28 in Albuquerque, NM, and a February 7 stop at the Tacoma Dome in Tacoma, WA. The rest of the itinerary will be announced in the days before ticket on-sales begin December 15.

When box office windows open, the four-band extravaganza will sell its ducats for less than $40, according to a recent Billboard interview with 10th Street Management CEO Allen Kovac. The company, which manages Buckcherry and Papa Roach, hopes the low face value will make tickets more affordable for the tour's target demographic of 15- to 25-year-olds.

"The idea was to take four acts that could tour alone and put them together for $40 or less to be able to let people hear three-and-a-half hours of music and experience some up-and-coming acts," Kovac explained, adding that the target audience's decreasing amount of disposable income was a major factor in the pricing.

Buckcherry just completed the first 20 dates of the co-headlining run on December 3 at UCF Arena in Orlando, FL, while Avenged Sevenfold remains on the road through mid-December for a handful of solo dates in the Northeast. The next stop on the band's schedule is a December 9-10 run at Ram's Head Live in Baltimore, MD.

The jaunt, which started early in November, was supposed to kick off earlier in the fall. However, the fall kick-off plans were scrapped when Avenged singer M. Shadows was diagnosed with vocal fatigue and ordered to rest.
