CMJ Music Marathon announces 2008 lineup

Broken Social Scene, Deerhoof, and Lykke Li are among the early confirmed bands performing this year at the 28th annual CMJ Music Marathon & Film Festival from October 21-25 during New York’s largest music event and one of the world’s most important showcases of new music artists.

CMJ has always been a springboard for the best new music talent from multiple music genres, discovering music’s future superstars years before their commercial breakthroughs. In previous years, the festival has unearthed marquee artists like The Shins (’06), Feist (’05), Arcade Fire (’04), The Killers (’03) and Modest Mouse (’98), among others.

Badge price ranges include from $75 for the film festival only; $100 -$245 for students; $415 for general admission; and $750 for a VIP badge. There a plethora of Big Apple clubs once again participating in the showcases.

Over the years, CMJ Music Marathon has featured many of the world’s most influential and revolutionary musicians, artists, cultural and political figures at a variety of events including presentations, screenings, Q&A sessions, panel discussions and, of course, over 1000 live music performances each year.

Additional artists confirmed so far include: Cool Kids, Crystal Castles, Margot And The Nuclear So And So’s, Minus The Bear, and The Dears.
