At the top of the day's news, we have a story about the economy's effect on the nation's multiple-day music festivals. Possibly worried that the price tag on attending will deter fans, the promoters of the 2009 Stagecoach Festival in Indio, CA, devised a payment plan unusual to the concert and tour industry. The two-day festival is allowing patrons to purchase weekend and camping passes using one of two options of Stagecoach's ticket layaway program.

In touring news, country icon Willie Nelson has announced the first string of dates for his 2009 touring season, which is currently scheduled to stretch into February. If that isn't enough for the crooner's fans, Nelson will also appear on a two-night engagement during jazz musician Wynton Marsalis's 2009 tour.

In the world of rock music, Bryan Adams is continuing his special solo and acoustic engagements through January. UK-based rockers Snow Patrol also have something special up their sleeves: the band will perform only one concert in Australia for their current tour, and have implemented a series of regulations for fans hoping to purchase tickets to the one-off event as a means of dissuading potential ticket scalpers.

After a series of South American gigs in November, Cyndi Lauper will head north for at least one U.S. concert before the year is out. Lauper's next performance is set for tonight (November 17) at Positivo in Curitiba, Brazil, after which has one more gig in the country before heading out to Argentina, Chile, Peru and finally Venezuela for a November 29 show at Aula Magna Universidad in Caracas. The singer's single U.S. concert is slated for December 6 at the Grand Ballroom at Regency Center in San Francisco, CA. Lauper has already completed 2008 tours of Japan and Europe. American folk singer Lucy Kaplansky has eight concerts in the U.S. and UK scheduled for the remainder of 2008, but she already has a head start on 2009 with more than 20 performances booked from January through May. The singer-songwriter's next show is November 22 at Le Poisson Rouge in New York, NY, and she continues on through a December 14 concert at Memorial Hall in Sheffield, England. Kaplansky kicks off the New Year with a January 11 show at House Concert in Sunrise, FL, and has more gigs booked through May 17 at Steve's Guitars in Carbondale, CO. Highlights include a February 8 show at Iron Horse Music Hall in Northampton, MA, and a March 7 concert at World Café Live in Philadelphia, PA.
