Elton John, Billy Joel tour kept off the road by ongoing illness

Ongoing health concerns have caused yet another postponement for Elton John and Billy Joel. The piano-rocking duo's Face 2 Face Tour will remain off the road through the weekend as John continues his recovery from an E. coli infection and a case of influenza.

A November 14 concert at Oracle Arena in Oakland, CA, is the most recent to face postponement in the wake of John's illness. The performer was initially forced to postpone three shows on November 4 and 7 in Seattle, WA, and November 10 in Portland, OR.

The 62-year-old musician is reportedly battling a "serious case" of infection and flu, and was briefly hospitalized in London at the start of the month.

"Elton has been out of hospital for several days now," said a November 12 statement on John's official Web site. "He is making a good recovery, but he is not yet quite well enough to perform."

All four postponed shows will be rescheduled, though new dates have not yet been established. Ticket holders are being advised to retain their tickets pending further information about the performances.

The next Face 2 Face concert on the calendar is coming up on November 17 at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, CA. However, John could make his first public appearance before then. The musician is scheduled to attend the Elton John AIDS Foundation's "Enduring Vision" event in New York City on November 16.

John and Joel's late fall tour leg was originally booked through December 7 at Times Union Center in Albany, NY. It is not yet known whether the pair will complete their four postponed shows before the end of this year, or whether those dates will be added to their 2010 itinerary for North America.
