Elton John, Billy Joel tour postpones three 'Face 2 Face' concerts due to flu
It will be about two weeks before performers Elton John and Billy Joel are performing "face to face" again. The pair postponed the first fall dates of their on-going Face 2 Face Tour after John was hospitalized.
The 62-year-old musician "has been advised by his doctor to postpone these performances due to a serious case of E. coli bacterial infection and influenza," according to a statement on his official Web site.
As a result of the illnesses, John required hospitalization in London. His spokesman, Gary Farrow, told the Associated Press that the performer hopes to be released soon. John has a "bad case" of the flu, the AP detailed, though the E. coli infection is reportedly minor.
The next leg of the tour was set to launch later this week with November 4 and 7 concerts at KeyArena in Seattle, WA. The duo's November 10 show at Rose Garden Arena in Portland, OR, has also been postponed.
Rescheduled dates for all three performances are in the works at this time. Concert-goers are being asked to hold onto their tickets for the Seattle and Portland shows until more information is released.
John and Joel are still scheduled to perform the remainder of their late 2009 run together, beginning with a November 14 event at Oracle Arena in Oakland, CA. The latest round of Face 2 Face dates were originally scheduled through December 7 at Times-Union Center in Albany, NY.
