James Taylor, Carole King tour sells out two nights at Tanglewood, adds third
American music legends James Taylor and Carole King have extended this summer's Troubadour Reunion Tour by a single night due to high demand for tickets.
During weekend onsales for the pair's July 3-4 concerts at Tanglewood in Lenox, MA, tickets sold out in a matter of hours. During that time, many customers ran into error pages on the official Tanglewood Web site due to heavy traffic volume.
Tanglewood began its July 5 onsales soon after the original performances sold out. Patrons can only purchase $24 lawn seats through the venue's Web site.
Reserved shed tickets will be available through a February 10 fan club presale on Taylor's official Web site. It is unclear whether Tanglewood will also sell shed tickets in the future, or whether its sales will be limited to the lawn.
In addition to the change in ticket availability, regional publication The Berkshire Eagle reported that venue capacity for the new July 5 concert will decrease from the usual 18,000 to just 16,000.
Taylor and King have had to extend their stay in several other summer concert markets due to high demand. Initial one-night stands have been doubled to June 12-13 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT; June 15-16 at Madison Square Garden in New York, NY; and June 19-20 at TD Garden in Boston, MA.
Besides the Tanglewood concert trio, the only other three-night engagement on the songwriters' itinerary is a May 13-15 run at Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, CA.
