Jon Bon Jovi gets political at Obama benefits

New Jersey rocker Jon Bon Jovi will participate in two benefits for the Democratic Party's presidential nominee, Barack Obama, in Bon Jovi's home state on September 5.

One performance is a regular benefit, but the other will rock Bon Jovi's personal residence. Bon Jovi has a history of supporting Democratic politicians.

The first event will be at the Jersey shore home of Democratic National Committee Finance Chairman Philip Murphy, with a ticket cost of $2,300 per person. The second benefit, at Bon Jovi's shore home, has a ducat priced at $28,500 per person, which benefits the DNC.

Whether Bon Jovi will perform is uncertain. It has been announced that he will greet the donors at Murphy's home, but Bon Jovi could also play some guitar in his own stead. If he does perform, it would be a solo performance, not a band show.

Obama will be in New Jersey the day after Republican presidential candidate John McCain formally accepts his party's nomination, but it has not been confirmed whether he will appear at either event.
