Live Nation Teams with Costco for Ticket Sales

By Jane Cohen and Bob Grossweiner

For the upcoming 2008 amphitheatre concert season, Live Nation is selling general admission lawn tickets at 263 Costco price club stores nationwide, as the company continues its push to grow its own ticketing identity before it splits with Ticketmaster.

The deal with Costco marks the first time Live Nation has extended its ticket distribution channel into the national retail arena.

Called the Amphitheatre Concert Pack card, the pass retails for $39.99 and includes two general admission lawn tickets to any 2008 concert in amphitheatres owned and operated by Live Nation, subject to availability. In addition, music fans will get six MP3 downloads from the Live Nation music download page supplied by Puretracks, Inc.

The card is also designed to help keep up the interest in outdoor shows. For the past few years, Live Nation has sold some general admission tickets for $20 or less on some occasions. When the amphitheaters were built and in vogue in the 1980's, festival seating was also popular, but as the audience has gotten older for the more adult- oriented acts, that demographic prefers to not sit on a blanket and on the grass.

“This is an exciting new way for music fans to come see their favorite artists play live, and a great opportunity for Live Nation to extend the live concert experience to a brand new audience,” said Nathan Hubbard, president of Live Nation Ticketing, in a statement.

Live Nation lied about the terms: complain to the BBB and Costco

To all people ripped off by Live Nation with the purchase of these Amp Packs: issue a Better Business Bureau complaint at http://bbbonline.com and tell Costco you want a refund due to the blatantly misleading (if not fraudulent) nature of Live Nation's claims that the Amp Pack is good for general admission tickets at any Amphitheater concert. Nowhere is there any indication that there is a specially limited set of seats, or that this product can't be used to get seats as long as there are general admission seats available. If there are enough people who complain, this will be a public relations nightmare for Live Nation and they will be forced to make additional tickets available, or if this does not work there are likely enough angry people to initiate a class-action lawsuit against Live Nation.

Don't just roll over and take this one!

and you can never bring

and you can never bring blankets and lawn chairs in anymore anyways!!! the lawn crowd can also be annoying at certain shows. at least in the northeast.

Costco Live Nation concert packs

Beware! There are only a number of tickets released for purchase using the Concert Packs - bit of a rip off when you don't even know how many - 20? 2,000? There were no Police lawn tickets showing on the web page 20 minutes after going on sale.
