Oklahoma City considers scalping law changes

Oklahoma City, OK, home of the NBA's newest team, the Thunder, is considering raising the amount street scalpers can charge to resell tickets outside of the team's basketball arena.

Currently, ticket scalpers have a designated area near the Ford Center where they can resell tickets, but only for 50 cents above face value. Ticket reselling over the Internet is not regulated in the city. The Thunder franchise is the former Seattle Supersonics.

As Tom Anderson, special projects manager for the team, told KOCO-TV, the city should consider raising that amount. Click here to see a video about the issue.

Fans at a recent game said the city shouldn't raise the price too high because that would be unfair to fans trying to get tickets. How much the city might raise the scalper amount, or when it might formally address the issue, are unknown, but the move would resemble ones made by other states and municipalities over the past couple of years.
