Pink tour brings 'Funhouse' to U.S. cities in September

With an impressive array of international dates already on the books, pop rock singer Pink is finally unveiling plans for her first tour of the U.S. in three years. Described in a statement as "part rock show, part club night, part cabaret, part Cirque Du Soleil," the Funhouse Tour has five U.S. concerts booked so far, with more dates on the way.

The one-month trek will visit arenas from coast-to-coast across the nation. The tour launches stateside on September 15 at WaMu Theatre in Seattle, WA, with the final currently confirmed show set for September 28 at the Patriot Center in Fairfax, VA.

The full extent of the U.S. tour leg is somewhat limited due to Pink's previously scheduled international performances. Her extensive summer tour of Australia runs from May 22 through August 22, while her year-end run of Europe picks up October 14-15 at The O2 in Dublin, Ireland.

A few weeks ago, Pink announced on her official Web site that she would route the tour based on fan demand, as tracked through the event planning site Eventful.com. The site's interactive service, which allows fans to "demand" a performer's presence in a local city or town, has been enlisted by an increasing number of artists to book tours. Hard rock group KISS will book its upcoming U.S. tour itinerary based on a weighted population-to-vote ratio rather than a straight count of total votes garnered on the site by each city.

Pink is currently touring behind her fifth studio album, "Funhouse," released in October 2008. The disc debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and has sold more than four million copies worldwide, according to a recent press release from the artist. The effort also earned Pink her first-ever No. 1 position on the Hot 100 chart with the hit single "So What."

Pink's last U.S. tour leg played in more than 20 cities across the nation in summer 2006. The outing primarily hit large club venues, though the vocalist also performed a few major radio concerts in arenas and stadiums that year.
