Rock and Roll Hall of Fame tickets open to public

For the first time in its 24 years of existence, the common rock and roll fan, rather than just the music industry executive, can buy a ticket to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. Set for April 4 at the Public Hall in Cleveland, OH, tickets are priced $35 and $75.

Tickets can be purchased two ways. A pre-sale, one day walk-up sale for upper level seating will be available on January 24 at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum Box Office. Pre-sale tickets are also being sold on a first-come, first-served basis and will continue until the ticket allotment is exhausted. There will be a two-ticket limit on all orders. Public onsales begin January 26 at 10 a.m. There will also be a two-ticket limit.

The class of 2009 inductees include rock guitarist extraordinaire Jeff Beck, who was also previously inducted as a member of the Yardbirds; doo-wop/R&B group Little Anthony & the Imperials; heavy metal band Metallica; hip-hoppers Run-D.M.C.; and R&B singer Bobby Womack.

Rockabilly/country singer Wanda Jackson will be inducted in the Early Influence Category while bassist Bill Black, drummer DJ Fontana and keyboardist Spooner Oldham will be enshrined in the Sidemen category. Black and Fontana were part of Elvis Presley backing band.

The 2009 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame performer inductees were chosen by the 600 voters of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation. Artists are eligible for inclusion in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 25 years after their first recording is released.
