Scott Weiland tour reschedules 'Happy' kick-off to early 2009
Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland has apparently scrapped plans for his November-December solo outing in favor of a 2009 itinerary. No explanation has been given in regards to the postponement, but the original 14-date trek has been replaced with the new dates on Weiland's official Web site.
The trek, which is now slated to kick off January 16 in Dallas, TX, features stops in the same cities booked for the original outing, with the addition of shows in Los Angeles, CA (February 6) and Las Vegas, NV (February 7). Venues for the updated itinerary have not been confirmed yet.
His tour was originally set to begin November 11 in Kansas City, MO, and run through a December 4 concert in San Francisco, CA. When Weiland does hit the road, he'll be supporting the follow-up to his 1998 solo debut, "12 Bar Blues," which peaked at No. 42 on the Billboard 200.
The upcoming "Happy in Galoshes" release has also been pushed back, though not as far as the tour. Originally scheduled to hit stores on November 18, an updated press release on the singer-songwriter's Web site notes a new in-store date of November 25. The statement, originally released in early September and reposted earlier this month, does not mention any date changes, though it does still refer to a November tour.
Weiland has spent much of the past year touring with the recently reunited Stone Temple Pilots. The crew's 2008 touring season opened May 17 at Columbus Crew Stadium in Columbus, OH, and is set to close with an October 31 show at the Verizon Wireless Music Centre in Birmingham, AL. The band, best known for their hit-filled 1992 debut "Core" and the later release "Tiny Music...Songs from the Vatican Gift Shop," will have performed more than 70 shows this year by the time their tour wraps.
