Blues-rock staple the Steve Miller Band will follow-up the summer's successful 37-city North American tour with a new leg beginning later this fall. The 11-date jaunt picks up October 22 at Clemson University's Littlejohn Coliseum in Clemson, SC, and continues through the band's November 15 gig at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, OH.
The new leg of dates is focused on Midwestern and East Coast markets, and includes an October 25 show at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre in St. Augustine, FL, and an October 31 performance at Omaha Civic Auditorium in Omaha, NE.
Miller kicked off his Summer 2008 Tour on May 24 at Cruzan Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach, FL, with dates booked through August 17 at Ironstone in Murphys, CA. Joe Cocker accompanied the band on tour as a special guest during the summer dates. A supporting act has not been announced for the fall tour.
While on the road, Miller has been testing material from an upcoming album which he began recording in the spring. According to a statement on the band's Web site, the classic rock musician completed 36 tracks during an 11-day recording session at George Lucas' Skywalker Ranch. R&B vocalist Sonny Charles sat in as a guest performer for the as-of-yet unnamed and unscheduled project.
The Steve Miller Band's most recent studio record is 1993's "Wide River." The group is known for producing a string of recognizable singles throughout the 1970s and '80s, including the famous No. 1 chart toppers "The Joker" (1973) and "Abracadabra" (1982).
