StubHub email glitch sends wrong "playoff ticket" notices to hundreds of fans
File this under the "oops!" heading.
Fans of the New York Mets, Washington Nationals and Chicago Cubs on Monday were the recipients of marketing e-mails from StubHub for playoff tickets, despite the fact that neither team qualified for the playoffs long before the baseball regular season ended.
"Be there alongside your New York Mets as they chase baseball immortality. Go to StubHub, where you'll find a fantastic selection of tickets to every playoff game – so you experience the championship chase live and in person. Check it out. Go to StubHub and get the seats you want today," the Mets e-mail said, but the other teams had the same message.
Only four teams remain in the baseball playoff picture, the New York Yankees, Philadelphia Phillies, Los Angeles Angels and the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Of the three teams from the erroneous e-mails, only the Cubs finished the regular season with more than 80 wins, but they were well behind the league's eventual playoff teams. StubHub, the world's largest secondary ticketing company, and the second-largest overall ticketing company behind rival Ticketmaster according to TicketNews's exclusive industry rankings, said mistaken e-mails were the result of an "e-mail glitch," which the company did not describe.
"This was due to an e-mail glitch. We regret the error and apologize for any inconvenience or confusion this may have caused," StubHub spokesperson Joellen Ferrer said in a statement. "Follow-up e-mails will be sent to every person that received the e-mail, notifying them of the error on our part. In no way does this affect any transactions that have taken place on StubHub."

Comments represent the opinions of users and do not necessarily reflect the views of TicketNews. You guys should switch over to Ticket Technology if you are having this many issues with Ticket Networks product. At least they are on the same mapping page as StubHub. I suppose TicketNetwork is too busy writing "breaking news" stories about other people's mishaps to correct their own. Good business practices!
Believe me, I plan to in a few months once my 'contract' with these clowns is up. Once TT they align their platform with StubHub, expect a large amount of TicketNetwork customers to fly the coup. But they can still have their part-time amateur brokers though. I'd prefer my business to be dealing with other businesses anyway, and TT only really accepts full-time, professional brokers.
How about Ticketnetwork mapping playoff tickets to world series tickets? Why don't they worry about mapping issues and there own problems.. They mapped over 50 brokers tickets incorrectly. Atleast Stubhub didn't map the events incorrectly.
ticketnetwork charges you fees up to 125% of the difference if u double sell on a weekend BUT when they make miskates and they me plenty the dont give me a cent. if i can find another pos ill be outta here when my renewal comes. they messed up my phillies 1st round also and if they had put them into the ws id have sued them for damages had anything sold.
Amen. Ticketnetwork is an utterly useless POS if you're a full-time broker with any respectable amount of inventory. Most of the people who use their POS are people who do it on the side, which is annoying when you have to hear back from some amateur while you have a customer waiting. They arrogantly hail themselves as an 'industry leader' but their POS is flawed, their customer support is difficult to get resolutions out of, and their sales rep's are a bunch of fast-talking hustlers who rarely deliver on their promises.
I also had the mapping issue during the playoffs, only it spread to some of my non-baseball inventory as well, and each time they not only told me it was something else, but then refused to remove any rejected orders from my broker rating. I'm done with TN, I get better sales off StubHub and don't pay anywhere near as much in fees. Once my contract is up, I'm also jumping ship to Ticket Technology and Ticketnetwork can kiss my a**!
