Tina Turner to return to the stage

The iconic Tina Turner is coming out of retirement.

The 68-year-old, Grammy award winner made the announcement during a taping of “Oprah” in Las Vegas on April 26 (to air May 8), and will kick off her tour Oct. 1 at the Sprint Center in Kansas City, MO. No other tour information is available.

Turner’s record-breaking Twenty-Four Seven World Tour in 2000 was her last major arena and stadium tour. Her U.S. dates alone grossed more than $80 million, making it not only the top-grossing tour that year, but also the fifth biggest concert tour ever in the U.S.

Last year, Turner headlined a benefit concert for the Cauldwell Children’s Charity in London. It was her first full show in seven years. She last performed live at the 50th Annual Grammy Awards in New York on Feb. 10, in a rousing duet with Beyonce.

Turner is famous for such songs as “What’s Love Got To Do With It,” "Proud Mary,” and “River Deep-Mountain High.”
