Rock pianist Ben Folds is continuing on his “Way to Normal” with a new leg of U.S. dates. The spring run will hit 14 cities, mostly along the East Coast, beginning with a March 17 concert at the Civic Music Hall in Omaha, NE.

The leg of dates continues on through an April 7 performance at Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN. Other notable stops include a March 19 show at Eagles Ballroom in Milwaukee, WI, a March 26 gig at Wellmont Theatre in Montclair, NJ, and an April 3 event at The Ritz Ybor in Tampa, FL.

The spring jaunt is the latest installment of Folds’ Way to Normal tour, supporting the September 2008 release of the same name. The record, the singer-songwriter’s third solo effort, peaked at No. 11 on the Billboard 200.

The performer, who made his musical breakthrough as the frontman for now-defunct trio Ben Folds Five, is awaiting the April release of his next studio project. The album, called “University A Cappella,” features student a cappella groups across the country performing covers of Folds’ songs.

From the hundreds of submissions he received and groups he scouted, Folds picked 18 a cappella groups to record for the album. “We didn’t get to nearly as many as I would have liked,” the musician said in a statement on his official MySpace page. “I just kept telling myself I can always do this again and make a series out of it.”

Folds launched his tour in fall 2008 on a coast-to-coast run of 15 shows. The musician recently completed a winter leg of dates with a month-long, 14-city tour in February.
