The Beach Boys are an American rock band, beginning primarily as a surf-rock group but eventually graduating on to more artistically innovative styles. The original line-up of the group comprised brothers Brian, Carl and Dennis Wilson, along with their cousin Mike Love and friend Al Jardine. The Beach Boys released their debut “Surfin’ Safari” in 1962 and quickly grew in popularity, driven by the success of singles like “Surfin’ USA,” “I Get Around,” “Help Me, Rhonda,” “Good Vibrations,” and the acclaimed “God Only Knows.” However, tensions within the Beach Boys, paired with Brian Wilson’s personal problems, caused the group to fall apart though critical acclaim continued to roll in, album after album. The Beach Boys were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988. A revamped line-up continues to tour regularly, though it does not include any of the Wilson brothers.
