The often criticized Bowl Championship Series, or BCS, is the computerized selection system that is designed to accurately select the top two teams in Division I NCAA College Football to play in the “National Championship Game”. The system was put in place in 1998 in its original form, but after multiple controversial selections to the championship game, there has been changes made to the process.

In addition to the BCS National Championship, the system will also select the teams which will play in the other BCS Bowl Games. The four BCS Bowls include the Rose Bowl, the Sugar Bowl, the Fiesta Bowl and the Orange Bowl. The national championship game rotates among each of the bowls.
