The New York Jets were established in 1960 as an original member of the American Football League. It was as part of the AFL that the Jets made their mark in football history, when they faced off with the Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl. Legendary Jets quarterback Joe Namath guaranteed victory that game and delivered on that promise, that guarantee is still talked every time another athlete attempts to follow suit. The Jets joined the NFL as part of the AFL-NFL merger in 1970, and now play in the AFC Eastern Division.

Beginning in 2010, the Jets will play their home games at the new $1.4 billion stadium in East Rutherford, NJ. While fans were initially excited for the prospects of a new stadium, after the team announced their new Personal Seat License policy, that excitement turned to anger. Fans began to lash out at the team, holding rallies over the prospects of having to pay extra just for the right to buy season tickets. It remains to be seen how successful the PSLs will be for the Jets.
