As the recently formed supergroup prepares to make its North American debut, demand for Chickenfoot tickets has overwhelmed even the band members. Pre-sales for the nine-city Road test Tour opened on April 16, followed by the first public on-sales on April 17.

Within days, the band posted a statement on its Web site that “all tickets” were completely sold-out in each city. Chickenfoot is comprised of ex-Van Halen members Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony, as well as Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith and guitar virtuoso Joe Satriani.

“Since these are very small venues, the demand far exceeded the availability and we know that left some fans very happy and others very disappointed,” the supergroup noted in an earlier statement about the almost immediate sell-out of the Chickenfoot fan club‘s pre-sale ticket allotment.

In order to accommodate demand in the future, the band will return for a major tour of the United States and Canada in August and September. The late summer trek will increase not only the number of concerts performed but also the size of venues visited.

However, Chickenfoot is also taking more immediate action to battle ticket scalping to the high-demand early summer shows. According to the band, all concert tickets were sold for Will Call pick-up only and require a valid photo ID for admission to the venue.

“We have gone to great lengths to keep these tickets out of the scalpers hands,” the rockers explained, later adding, “so do not buy tickets at any secondary ticket outlets!”

Chickenfoot’s debut Road test Tour will visit small clubs and theaters in nine cities across the United States and Canada before heading to Europe for more than a dozen festival and concert appearances. The national run launches May 14 at El Corazon in Seattle, WA, and ends May 29 at the Theatre of the Living Arts in Philadelphia, PA.

The band’s self-titled debut is scheduled for a June 5 release in Europe, followed by a North American release on June 9.

“We spent a lot of time together in the recording studio working long hours to make Chickenfoot live up to expectations,” Satriani said in a recent statement. “We really feel like we’ve mastered it and recorded a great album, but now we’re especially excited to take the show on the road and see how the fans react to it live. I think we are really going to feed off of the fan’s energy. We’re really that type of band.”
