Acclaimed singer and actress Beyoncé has announced the first block of dates for her 2009 world tour, which will stretch from spring through the summer and make international and North American stops. The confirmed dates are booked for mainland Europe and the British-Irish Isles, but more dates are expected in the coming weeks.

Upcoming singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles will launch a new headlining tour in 2009 as she continues to support her 2007 debut album “Little Voice.” … Ani DiFranco will also continue her U.S. tour in support of her latest release, “Red Letter Year.” The winter 2009 outing follows DiFranco’s previously announced set of shows in Australia. … Finally, Bon Jovi‘s tour was the big winner this past year, claiming the title of the top-grossing tour of 2008 in Billboard‘s recently announced Year in Music report.

Heart will hit the U.S. next year for a few scattered dates. The run currently has eight confirmed dates, from February 5 at Celebrity Theater in Phoenix, AZ, through June 27 at Divots Summer Outdoor Concert Festival in Norfolk, NE. Other stops along the way include a February 6-7 run at the Hilton in Las Vegas, NV, a March 27 gig at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Biloxi, MS, and a March 28 set at the House of Blues in Orlando, FL.

Brooks & Dunn have confirmed a few tour dates for 2009. The year will open with a five-show block of dates from February 16 at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, TX, through February 22 at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, CA. Two more dates are on the books for later in the year: March 12 at Casino Rama in Orillia, ON, and June 6 at the BAMAJAM Festival in Enterprise, AL. In May, the country duo will head to Australia for five concerts from May 1 at the Burswood Entertainment Centre in Perth through May 9 at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre in Brisbane.

Cheap Trick will close out the year with a new string of concerts. The rockers’ next show is slated for tonight (December 11) at Diamond Jo Casino in Dubuque, IA, and they’ll follow-up with a December 12 show at Hemmens Cultural Center in Elgin, IL. From there, the band will play a two-night stand on December 15 and 16 at the House of Blues in West Hollywood, CA, followed by a December 17 gig at the House of Blues in Anaheim, CA. Cheap Trip wraps up the years with two final performances: December 28 at the Downtown Concert Series in Orlando, FL, and New Year’s Eve at Horseshoe Casino in Bossier City, LA.

Andrew Bird has extended his upcoming U.S. tour. The musician will launch his tour earlier than previously announced: January 25 at the Theatre of the Living Arts in Philadelphia, PA. The outing will be extended by 12 dates, as well, to include a few stops in Canada. The new tour leg begins March 15 at The Pageant in St. Louis, MO, and wraps April 11 at The State Theatre in Minneapolis, MN. Stops along the way include a March 17 set at Cain’s Ballroom in Tulsa, OK, an April 3 show at Queen Elizabeth Theatre in Toronto, ON,an April 4 gig at Le National in Montreal, QC, and an April 10 performance at Civic Opera House in Chicago, IL.

The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus has announced plans for an early 2009 tour of the U.S. The 18-date tour will kick off January 9 at Floyd’s Music Store in Tallahassee, FL, and wrap February 7 at The Pontiac Garage in Dallas, TX. Along the way, the Florida-based alt-rockers will stop for a January 10 performance at The Masquerade in Atlanta, GA, January 16 show at The Eagles Club in Milwaukee, WI, a January 17 set at Reggie’s Rock Club in Chicago, IL, a January 24 show at Agora Ballroom in Cleveland, OH, and a February 3 gig at Varsity Theatre in Baton Rouge, LA.

Fiction Family, a new collaboration between Sean Watkins of Nickel Creek and Jon Foreman of Switchfoot, will kick off its first tour in 2009. The 20-city trek launches January 13 at The Ark in Ann Arbor, MI, and wraps February 7 at Largo at Coronet Theatre in West Hollywood, CA. Highlights of the coast-to-coast run include a January 15 concert at Abbey Pub in Chicago, IL, a January 20 gig at Bowery Ballroom in New York, NY, a January 29 show at Variety Playhouse in Atlanta, GA, a February 3 set at Neumos in Seattle, WA, and a February 5 performance at The Independent in San Francisco, CA.
