Country musician Kenny Chesney has announced dates and cities for his 2009 summer tour. Most venues have not yet been announced, but the opening two-night stand will be at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, CT, with presales starting tomorrow, January 14.

The Derek Trucks Band will be going back out on the road this year, with nearly 30 concerts scheduled for the United States through mid-April. … The 11th annual Ultra Music Festival is the official closing event for the Winter Music Conference in Florida this year, with two days of music in late March. Headliners include Bloc Party and The Prodigy. … Finally, classic R&B vocal group Boyz II Men is heading out on a new round of tour dates beginning tomorrow (January 14). The trio is continuing to support its 2007 release, produced by Randy Jackson.

TFL and ATBS for ticketing professionals

Jason Mraz will perform a handful of shows in the States this winter before heading out for world dates in Europe and Japan for spring dates. The first show is slated for February 12 at Ryan Center in Kingston, RI. Shows follow on February 13 at Charles E. Smith Center in Washington, DC; February 14 at Union College in Schenectady, NY; February 16 at Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN; and February 17 at No. Illinois University’s Convocation Center in Dekalb, IL. After completing his international run, Mraz will support Dave Matthews Band on a few nights: April 25 at Vanderbilt Stadium in Nashville, TN, and May 8-9 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV.

Black Label Society has added 16 shows to its 2009 tour itinerary, including a new tour opener on March 6 at The Fillmore in San Francisco, CA. Other recently announced shows include a March 14 concert at Showbox SoDo in Seattle, WA, a March 15 gig at Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver, BC, an April 11 show at Electric Factory in Philadelphia, PA, an April 14 session at the new House of Blues in Boston, MA, a two-night stand at The Marquee Theatre in Tempe, AZ, on April 28-29, and a new tour end-date of May 5 at The Wiltern in Los Angeles, CA.

Cold War Kids have outlined a spring tour of North America to follow-up a few early February dates in Australia. The national outing kicks off with a March 7 appearance at the Langerado Music Festival at Bicentennial Park in Miami, FL. The band picks back up on March 26 at 4th & B Concert Theater in San Diego, Ca, and continues through April 28 at The Fillmore in San Francisco, CA. Other confirmed dates include an April 2 show at the Wilbur Theatre in Boston, MA, an April 3 gig at Terminal 5 in New York, NY, an April 21 set at Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver, BC, and an April 23 concert at Doug Fir Lounge in Portland, OR.

Chick Corea will begin his own spring tour of North America, beginning with a March 19 gig at Royce Hall Auditorium in Los Angeles, CA, and wrapping May 1 at the Flynn Center for the Performing Arts in Burlington, VT. Highlights of the nearly 20-date run include a March 25 show at Paramount Theatre in Denver, CO, an April 3 set at Chicago Theatre in Chicago, IL, an April 23-25 run at Rose Theater in New York, NY, and an April 28 concert at Place des Arts in Montreal, QC. All dates are with the Five Peace Band, with John McLaughlin sitting in on several nights.
