A concert mystery was solved today when Janet Jackson‘s camp finally addressed the multiple postponements and cancellations on her tour. Previously, the postponements had been chalked up to an unnamed illness that had some in the industry speculating that Jackson’s tour wasn’t faring well at the box office. But Jackson’s manager has stated that the singer is feeling better and will be back on the road soon to complete her tour.
In other news, pop princess Britney Spears is currently in talks for her spring 2009 tour, which AEG Live has signed on to produce. … Former Soundgarden and Audioslave vocalist Chris Cornell has extended his upcoming West Coast tour with a 13-city trek across Canada. … Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland has pushed back his own solo outing, originally scheduled for November, to an early 2009 start date with venues still to be announced. … British singer-songwriter Holly Golightly is heading to the U.S. for a tour with bandmate Lawyer Dave, as Holly Golightly and the Brokeoffs. … On the heels of their 20th Anniversary Tour kick-off, the Smashing Pumpkins will debut their documentary “If All Goes Wrong” in movie theaters in 40 cities across the country on November 6.

Oasis will be heading back across the pond after completing their 14-date North American tour (which includes dates in Mexico and Canada). The new block of shows kicks off January 12 at Zenith in Nantes, FRA, and continues through March 3 at Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy in Paris, FRA. Another show, listed separately, is scheduled months later on June 20 at Slane Castle in Dublin, IRE. The start dates for European on-sales run from October 15 through October 21. Slane Castle public on-sales begin Friday, October 24.
Ray LaMontagne will follow-up his current U.S. tour with a tour of the UK in February. The singer-songwriter will head across the pond for a February 7 start at the Grand Opera House in York, and continue on through a February 21 end-date at Colston Hall in Bristol. Other highlights include a February 9 gig at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall in Glasgow, and a February 15 performance at Barbican Centre in London. The U.S. tour featuring Leona Naess continues October 16 at Meymandi Concert Hall in Raleigh, NC, and wraps November 9 at Marion Oliver McCaw Hall in Seattle, WA.
As expected, AC/DC extended the European itinerary for the much-anticipated Black Ice World Tour. Following the previously announced March 27 show in Munich, GER, the seven new dates pick up March 29 at Hallenstadion Zurich in Zurich, SWI, and continue through April 23 at LG Arena in Birmingham, UK. Other stops are a March 31 show at Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona, SPA, April 2 at Palacio de Deportes in Madrid, SPA, April 14 at the O2 Arena in London, UK, April 18 at The O2 in Dublin, IRE, and April 21 at Manchester Evening News Arena in Manchester, UK.
Saliva have extended their tour with Drowning Pool through mid-November. The tour, which begins October 17 at Jannus Landing in St. Petersburg, FL, has two new shows set for this month: October 28 at the Newport Music Hall in Columbus, OH, and October 30 at Austin’s Fuel Room in Libertyville, IL. Additional shows have been tacked on to the November books, including a block of shows running from November 13 at Ramkota Exhibit Hall in Sioux Falls, SD, through the new end-date on November 22 at Galamis Beach in Brawley, CA.
The Faint haven’t even left the U.S. yet, but they’ve already announced that they’re coming back. The rockers will follow a seven-date tour of the UK and Germany in late November with at least seven more shows in the States. The first block of U.S. dates begins October 18 at The Blue Note in Columbia, MO, and continues through November 14 at First Avenue in Minneapolis, MN. The additional shows kick off December 12 at The Pageant in St. Louis, MO, and wrap December 19 at Sokol Auditorium in Omaha, NE. Also included in the new Midwest block are a December 14 gig at Turner Hall Ballroom in Milwaukee, WI, and a December 16 performance at Beachland Ballroom in Cleveland, OH.
