Today’s recap covers No Doubt’s revival, plus updated and extended tour itineraries as compiled by TicketNews on November 24, 2008.

Over the weekend, ska-punk band No Doubt announced plans to hit the road with frontwoman Gwen Stefani in 2009 after a year of writing and recording new music. A release date for new material has not been announced, though the band cited plans to continue writing and recording on the road. The band has been on hiatus since 2004, and has not released an album since 2001.

Acclaimed indie musician Andrew Bird also has plans to tour in 2009, supporting his upcoming album “Noble Beast.” Meanwhile, Emmylou Harris, Patty Griffin, Shawn Colvin and Buddy Miller will all team up for their second Three Women & Their Buddy tour, following the format of the first collaborative trek early in 2008.

In venue news, Asbury Park’s famed music hall The Stone Pony will temporarily shut its doors for a few weeks while it undergoes repairs and scheduled maintenance. The Pony’s itinerary of concerts has been transferred to other area establishments.

Radiohead ruled 2008 as one of the hottest tickets of the summer, and now the experimental rock group has confirmed four performances for early 2009. The rockers, led by Thom Yorke, will begin the year with March 15-16 performances at Foro Sol in Mexico City, Mexico. From there, Radiohead has another two-night stint slated for March 26-27 at San Carlos de Apoquindo Stadium in Santiago, Chile. More dates in South America are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

Coldplay are continuing to tack dates onto their 2008-2009 world tour, and have recently unveiled a new stretch of dates in Australia and the UK. The run Down Under begins February 27 at Burswood Dome in Perth, and continues with two-night stands on March 3-4 at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, March 8-9 at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre in Boondall, and March 11-12 at Acer Arena in Sydney. Coldplay also added three September 2009 dates in the UK: September 12 at Lancashire County Cricket Ground in Manchester, England, September 16 at Hampden Park in Glasgow, Scotland, and September 19 at Wembley Stadium in London, England.

Martha Wainwright will join up with her piano-rocking brother, Rufus Wainwright, for a special family concert on December 10 at Carnegie Hall in New York City in the middle of her late year tour of Canada. The two are joining mother Kate McGarrigle for the McGarrigle family Christmas concert, featuring many other special performers. Martha Wainwright’s next solo show is November 28 at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver, BC, and she has dates booked across Canada through December 21 at Centre Culturel in Drummondville, QC.

Loudon Wainwright III is also on tour, though not with any of his musical children. The singer-songwriter is wrapping up the final leg of his 2008 tour before starting up again with a new round of
early 2009 dates
. The performer’s next show is November 29 at The Sanctuary in Chaham, NJ, and he has shows booked though December 12 at the Boulton Center for the Performing Arts in Bay Shore, NY. Wainwright’s 2009 tour begins January 16 at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco, CA, and has more than 10 dates scheduled through March 1 at Belcourt Theatre in Nashville, TN.

Carrie Rodriguez will perform eight shows in December, taking a quick break for the holidays to return to the road early in 2009 for a new round of tour dates. The alternative-country rocker hits the stage on December 4 at The Kent Stage in Kent, OH, and continues through December 19 at the Narrows Center for the Arts in Fall River, MA. Rodriguez opens 2009 with a January 2 gig at Turning Point in Piermont, NY, and has more than 10 dates booked for the year opening U.S. tour leg, which wraps on January 26 at The Living Room in New York, NY.
