Meanwhile, the masked metal rockers of Slipknot have announced the dates for their extensive U.S. tour, which will span seven weeks and stop in more than 30 cities. … Celtic rockers the Dropkick Murphys have a much more modest tour leg planned for 2009, but the band still hasn’t announced the details for their St. Patrick’s Day blowout in their hometown of Boston, MA. … Natalie Cole has some dates on the books for February, which will be a welcome return to the road for the singer, who was sidelined earlier in 2008 due to complications in her treatment for Hepatitis C. … The day’s final story comes from the promoters for the 2009 Bamboozle Festival, who have announced that headlining performances will come from Fall Out Boy and the recently reunited No Doubt.

Robin Thicke will celebrate the holidays on the road with four recently announced year-end dates. The singer-songwriter has four shows booked, beginning with a December 26 concert at BJCC Concert Hall in Birmingham, AL. Afterwards, he continues up the coast for a December 27 performance at the DAR Constitution Hall in Washington, DC, before heading south again for a December 28 gig at Atlanta Civic Center in Atlanta, GA. Thicke will close out the year and his itinerary with one final show, booked for December29 at the new Club Nokia in Los Angeles, CA.
Julio Iglesias is one of the world’s most successful crooners, and after finishing his 2008 world tour, he is set for a few U.S. concerts in 2009. The first three dates unveiled for his itinerary are set for Florida in the winter months: February 11 at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater, February 14 at American Airlines Arena in Miami, and February 15 at King Center for the Performing Arts in Melbourne. Over the course of his decades-long career, the Spanish singer has released more than 70 albums and performed approximately 5,000 concerts, according to his biography.
Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings are slated for hit the metropolitan Midwest market for a series of early December shows before taking a break for the holiday season. Shows are booked for December 2 at Pantages Theatre in Minneapolis, MN, December 3 at Barrymore Theatre in Madison, WI, December 4 at Vic 4:54:02 PMheater in Chicago, IL, December 5 at The Pageant in St. Louis, MO, and December 6 at Jake’s Nightclub in Bloomington, IL. After an early-year outing in Australia, the soul revivalist crew will be back in the States for at least one more show, slated for January 28 at Warfield Theatre in San Francisco, CA.
Vonda Shepard recently finished a fall run of the U.S., but the rocker still has a few local dates up her sleeves for 2009 before she hits Europe for an extensive winter/spring tour. At the beginning of the year, Shepard is slated for two shows on January 9 at B.B. King’s in New York, NY, followed by a single set on January 10 at Sellersville Theater in Sellersville, PA. From there, the rocker will be hopping a jetplane for her January 29 European kick-off at Café Hahn in Koblenz, Germany. More than 20 dates are booked for the continent through a February 25 gig at Alhambra in Paris, France, after which the singer-songwriter will undertake a currently unannounced trek across the UK.
Joshua Redman, an American jazz saxophonist, will launch a tour of the U.S. and Europe early in 2009. The U.S. leg is currently scheduled to start on January 17 at South Orange Performing Arts Center in South Orange, NJ. After a January 23 show at The Egg in Albany, NY, Redman’s itinerary jumps to a March 1 gig at Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago, IL, and a March 2-3 run at Dakota Jazz Club in Minneapolis, MN, before heading across the ocean for the March 7 kickoff at Art Center Impart in Wroclaw, Poland. More than 10 shows are booked through the end of the month, after which the musician will hit Yoshi’s in Oakland, CA, for an April 1-5 stretch and Dimitriou’s Jazz Alley in Seattle, WA, for an April 9-12 run, among other dates.
