Though Wicked is still the number one (power score 5.32) event according to TicketNew’s Weekly Top Events rankings for the week ending September 20, the Dallas Cowboys make an impressive leap to number two (2.90) from their previously held number eight position. Other sports teams making the overall top ten include the Chicago Bears (eight, 1.69) and the Texas Longhorns (ten, 1.65). Despite the end of summer, major concert events are doing well. U2 (three, 2.86) is the top ranking concert on the Top Events chart, followed by Miley Cyrus (five, 1.86), Trans-Siberian Orchestra (six, 1.83), KISS (seven, 1.82), and Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band (nine, 1.66).

It’s only September, but already the Radio City Christmas Spectacular is in the Top Concert Event rankings at number six with a 3.43 power score. Pink recently began her first U.S. tour in three years, and now she enters the concert rankings at number seven (3.29). AC/DC slips to number eight (3.00) from number five, though the band still outranked Jay Z (nine, 2.91) and Metallica (ten, 2.43).

With the exception of the Texas Longhorns (two, 3.63) and the New York Yankees (four, 2.63), NFL teams dominate the Top Sports Events rankings. The Yankees lost the number one spot to the Cowboys (4.59) and ended up behind the New England Patriots (three, 2.88). Climbing up the sports rankings, the Green Bay Packers are at number five (2.51), followed by the Chicago Bears (six, 2.50). Perennial top ticket sellers the Pittsburgh Steelers are number seven (2.36) after making number two in the last rankings. Rounding out the sports top ten are the New York Giants (eight, 2.26), Denver Broncos (nine, 2.09), and the Philadelphia Eagles (ten, 2.09).

A Steady Rain stays at number four (4.62). Billy Crystal’s show 700 Sundays is number eight (2.35) and West Side Story reenters the theater rankings at number nine (2.19). TicketNews Exclusive Rankings and Power Scores are based on ticket sales from the TicketNetwork Exchange™, the world’s largest secondary market exchange. A Power Score illustrates a given event’s category-specific significance. Two factors are used to calculate a power score: total ticket sales from the given event and total ticket sales within the category. As such, power scores should only be used to compare events within a particular category.
