With new plans for a full round of concerts in the United States, jazz singer-songwriter Diana Krall has filled in her North American tour itinerary from April through August. The extensive 36-city tour officially launches with an April 14-15 stand at Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium in Calgary, AB, and concludes August 28 at Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall in Portland, OR.

The tour of Krall’s native Canada runs a coast-to-coast circuit of the provinces through May 13 at the Orpheum in Vancouver, BC. Along the way, the performer will stop for an April 22 show at MTS Centre in Winnipeg, MB, a April 30 through May 1 run at Massey Hall in Toronto, ON, and a May 6-7 block of shows at Place des Arts in Montreal, QC, among other dates.

After completing the Canadian leg of dates in Vancouver, Krall will double back across the continent for the East Coast start of her U.S. tour on June 5 at Palace Theater in Waterbury, CT. Other stops on that outing include a June 13 show at Bank Of America Pavilion in Boston, MA, a June 23-24 run at Carnegie Hall in New York, NY, a July 11 performance at Chastain Park Amphitheatre in Atlanta, GA, and an August 8 gig at the Pearl Concert Theater in Las Vegas, NV.

Krall is touring behind the upcoming release of her twelfth studio album, “Quiet Nights.” The jazz singer-pianist is scheduled to release the disc on March 31 with a concert at World Financial Center Plaza in New York, NY. During the free performance, a 30-piece orchestra will accompany Krall in the Plaza’s Winter Garden.

According to Krall, the new album was heavily influenced by a recent trip she took to Brazil, where she found herself immersed in the bossa nova genre of music. However, she takes a very intimate approach to that style on the album.

“It’s not coy. It’s not ‘peel me a grape,’ little girl stuff,” Krall explained in a statement on her Web site. “I feel this album’s very womanly — like you’re lying next to your lover in bed whispering this in their ear.”
