More than 12 diverse reggae, ska and alternative artists will appear on two music stages at South Florida’s new music festival, DubFest, this fall, when the AEG Live-produced festival will showcase the ocean and beach culture of South Florida on September 5 at ArtsPark in downtown Hollywood, FL.

Grammy-winning reggae artist Bunny Wailer will make his only confirmed 2009 live appearance in the United States. Joining Wailer will be Lee “Scratch” Perry, regarded as the originator and king of dub, along with Reel Big Fish, Goldfinger, Badfish and Authority Zero, representing the ska and alternative side of music. Newcomers including Ballyhoo, SOJA and Scotty Don’t round up the line-up.

Dubfest will have five distinct areas: The Premier Stage is the site of the main stage with live music all day. The Grove is the festival’s “green” area, featuring Green Grove Village that will include green exhibitors and environmental and energy conservation organizations. It is also the site of the Action Stage, the second music stage. The Meadow will showcase skate demos from Grind For Life and BC Surf and Sport and is also the site for the Dubfest VIP Experience ticketholders. The Plaza will feature a food court and art vendors, and Serenity will have water fountains and play sites.

TFL and ATBS for ticketing professionals

“The one day music and arts event marks a celebration of the beach and ocean culture that South Florida has been waiting for,” said Jesse Stoll, AEG Live operations coordinator, said in a statement. Stoll is the son of the late Jon Stoll, founder of one of the top independent promotion companies in the U.S., Fantasma Promotions. When Jon Stoll died, Fantasma was bought by Live Nation.

Tickets go on sale on June 19 and are $35 (advance) and $40 (day of show) plus applicable service fees. Official Dub VIP Experience tickets are $125 and include a lunch and dinner buffet presented by Offerdahl’s, a limited edition gift bag, one free beverage of Dubfest’s official drink, special tent access with exclusive bars and restrooms and private festival access.

“We priced, programmed and located this event so that everyone who enjoys the culture and lifestyle of South Florida can access this premier festival at the beautiful new ArtsPark in Hollywood,” added John Valentino, senior vice president of AEG Live SE.
