The classic rock outfit Eagles cemented its crossover to country with a blow-out summer tour announcement. The music veterans have named country staples Dixie Chicks and Keith Urban as special guests for a summer 2010 tour of North American stadiums.

Eight dates are on the itinerary so far, but only five feature all three of the powerhouse acts. The calendar opens with a June 8 show at Rogers Centre in Toronto, ON, and closes out the month with a Busch Stadium gig on June 24 in St. Louis, MO.

While Dixie Chicks plan to stick by their host Eagles throughout the early summer jaunt, Urban will be absent from the opening and closing dates, as well as a June 22 show at Canada Inns Stadium in Winnipeg, MB.

Public ticket sales start March 29 for all eight concerts. Eagles are utilizing all-in pricing for the upcoming tour, with face values ranging from about $50 to upwards of $225. According to the band’s official Web site, “All-In ticketing…allows fans to purchase tickets without any added fees and streamlines the ticket buying process.”

The early summer jaunt follows right on the heels of the Eagles’ previously announced spring tour of the West Coast. The April-May jaunt is the latest leg of the on-going Long Road Out of Eden Tour, which originally kicked off in spring 2008.

While the Eagles continue their road dog ways, this is the first tour for the Dixie Chicks in almost four years.

After singer Natalie Maines made a negative comment about President Bush during a 2003 concert in London, the country trio faced backlash from some U.S. fans and was even blacklisted by some radio stations in the South. The fallout continued over the next few years, and their 2006 Accidents & Accusations Tour was wrought with cancellations. Afterwards, the Dixie Chicks slowly fell out of public view, performing only scattered shows like a pair of shows with Eagles for the 2007 grand opening for Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, CA.

Most recently, though, the Dixie Chicks had appeared to be in the middle of an unofficial hiatus. Group members Emily Robison and Martie Maguire even formed their own duo, Court Yard Hounds, which will release its self-titled debut on May 4. Any prolonged Dixie Chicks activity could depend on the Hounds, as Robison and Maguire had reportedly planned to take their duo on the road this summer.
