Iconic American rock musician Eddie Vedder has a new tour in the works this summer as he prepares for the release of his sophomore solo album.

The Pearl Jam frontman will play 16 cities on the coast-to-coast venture, which kicks off June 15 at the Performing Arts Center in Providence, RI. Vedder’s itinerary wraps the following month with a July 15 closer at Benaroya Hall in Seattle, WA.

Along the way, stops are lined up for June 21-22 at Beacon Theatre in New York, NY; June 28 at the Chicago Theatre in Chicago, IL; and July 9 at the Santa Barbara Bowl in Santa Barbara, CA.

Public ticket sales begin tomorrow, April 1, for all 17 dates of the summer trek. Face values are consistent across the board, with tickets set between $75 and $79.50 at almost all venues, based on current Ticketmaster.com listings. The only exception is the Santa Barbara Bowl, where ticket prices start at $50 and only reach up to $75 for select seating options.

Vedder’s summer dates support his record, “Ukulele Songs,” which is scheduled for release on May 31. Irish musician Glen Hansard, one half of the folk-rock duo The Swell Season, is featured on one track of the album (“Sleepless Nights”) and will open for Vedder throughout the one-month trek.

In addition to his recent tours with Pearl Jam, Vedder has also completed a few solo jaunts, including sold-out legs in April 2008 and August 2008. Demand for tickets during these early outings led at least one venue to cancel the ticket orders of suspected resellers and put the tickets back on the market for consumers leading up to the night of the show.

Vedder also completed another brief — and relatively controversy-free — outing in early summer 2009. During these tours, he performed tracks from his first solo album, 2007’s “Into the Wild,” which served as the soundtrack for the film of the same name.
