Iconic musicians Elton John and Billy Joel are still expanding the itinerary for their 2009 Face2Face tour. The North American outing currently stands at 19 dates, including a new eight-date tour leg that will pick up May 5 at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, MN.

Other recently announced spring dates include a May 12 concert at Qwest Center in Omaha, NE, a March 16 performance at Sommet Center in Nashville, TN, and a May 21 show at The Palace of Auburn Hills in Auburn Hills, MI. At the moment, the last confirmed date for the 2009 North American run is also the first announced show in Canada: May 26 at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, ON.

John and Joel have already announced a 10-city run in March. That initial run, which begins with a March 2 concert at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, FL, was confirmed a few dates at a time in early December 2008.

According to a statement released by the artists late last year, the March and May tour legs will be followed by another round of U.S. dates later in 2009. The whole tour is expected to stretch over two years, with additional North American and international dates coming sometime in 2010.

The extent of the tour is limited, however, due to John’s other concert and tour duties. The English musician is currently wrapping a brief South American tour, and has month-long residencies booked at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas for February and April.

John also has scattered shows planned for Ireland, England and Germany through the months of June and July, meaning that any additional Face2Face dates won’t come until much later in the year. Joel’s schedule is currently open after the March and May jaunts.
