The Society of European Stage Authors and Composers (SESAC), a performing rights organization designed to represent songwriters and publishers and their right to be compensated for having their music performed in public, will be participating as a sponsor at the upcoming Ticket Summit to be held on January 13-15, 2010, at the Waldorf=Astoria in New York City.

SESAC was established in 1930 by Paul Heinecke, a young musicologist, to serve European composers who were not adequately represented in the United States. Today, SESAC is a worldwide organization maintaining a diversified repertory that includes all musical formats, representing songwriters and publishers in the United States. Artists with songs under SESAC’s repertory include Bob Dylan, Neil Diamond, and Justin Timberlake.

SESAC, like many others within the music industry, sees the future of their company focused on the protection of artist’s songs as items of intellectual property.

“SESAC today stands as the clear technological leader among the nation’s performing rights organizations, utilizing cutting-edge technologies to provide its affiliates with incomparable accuracy and consistency in performance detection over any medium, including the Internet,” explained SESAC’s Shawn Williams to TicketNews. With this focus in mind, SESAC sees its greatest future challenge to be in finding new and innovative means to continue to promote and support their artists in the continually changing world of the modern music industry.

One step toward continuing to expand and build SESAC into the future is their participation in Ticket Summit 2010. According to Williams, SESAC sees Ticket Summit 2010 as a chance to “take advantage of the opportunity to bring awareness of the services our company provides for the creative community to the hundreds of ticket agents, venue managers and event promoters that will be in attendance.”

SESAC’s participation in Ticket Summit will certainly present a great opportunity for the company to take another step further in their role as one of the nation’s premiere performing rights organizations.
