Selling tickets internationally will be featured at Ticket Summit NYC

By Alfred Branch Jr.

As the ticket industry expands into becoming a truly global marketplace, brokers will need an edge, which the "Getting Global: Ticketing & International Expansion" discussion panel at Ticket Summit NYC aims to deliver. The three-day conference and trade show, the largest in the ticket industry, is scheduled for January 6-8 at the Waldorf=Astoria in New York City.

The four panelists chosen for the discussion are veterans of the international ticketing scene and will offer unique perspectives on what lies ahead for the industry. They are Graham Burns, Chairman of the UK-based Association of Secondary Ticket Agents; Ryan Linton, Vice President of Business Development for international payment specialists Global Collect; Andrew Blachman, General Manager for UK-based ticket company GetMeIn.com; and Joe Cohen, CEO of UK-based ticket company Seatwave.com.

From the panel description, the discussion will one of the more eagerly anticipated sessions of the conference: "Easy access to foreign ticketing markets has allowed many brokers to grow internationally. This panel of globe-trotting professionals will share with you the major trends in event ticket sales throughout Europe and the rest of the world."

Over the past few years, several companies, including Seatwave, GetMeIn and UK-based viagogo.com have emerged as leaders in the UK and European markets, which prompted Ticketmaster Entertainment to buy GetMeIn earlier this year.

Ticket Summit NYC is one of two conferences scheduled for 2009 that were created and hosted by TicketNews's parent company TicketNetwork. The second event is the Las Vegas version of Ticket Summit, which is entering its fourth year July 15-17 at the Venetian Resort Hotel Casino.
