Ticketing pioneer Fred Rosen to keynote 2011 Ticket Summit in Las Vegas
Fred Rosen, the former CEO of Ticketmaster and the current co-CEO of Outbox Enterprises, will give the keynote address at Ticket Summit in Las Vegas, scheduled for July 13-15 at the Venetian Resort Hotel Casino.
The July appearance marks Rosen's second time speaking at the ticketing and live entertainment trade show and conference; he gave the keynote address in 2007, just prior to him signing on at AudienceView. He left that ticketing company and subsequently joined Outbox, where he helped orchestrate its mega ticketing deal with Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG), a move that instantly created a major competitor to Ticketmaster.
Rosen told TicketNews that he enjoys Ticket Summit, and he plans to cover many topics during his speech.
"I'm looking forward to speaking at this conference, which is always fun," Rosen said. "It's my intention to cover many topics, including letting the industry know of our support in giving consumers their choice with paperless ticketing."
In recent months, the subject of regulating paperless tickets to ensure consumer choice has been front and center in several state legislatures, and even at the federal level. Though Rosen did not elaborate, he hinted that Outbox/AEG will take a decidedly pro-consumer stance by allowing choices as it relates to paperless tickets, something Ticketmaster has lobbied against.
"We are very honored to have Fred Rosen return as a keynote speaker at Ticket Summit," said Dr. Molly A. Martinez, Executive Director, Ticket Summit. "With all the recent developments in the ticket industry in the past four years, it will be very interesting to hear his perspective as a leader in the live entertainment business."
Rosen was the President and CEO of Ticketmaster Group, Inc, from 1982 to 1998, during which time he transformed the company into the world's dominant computerized ticketing service, with revenues of more than $1 billion.
Currently, he serves as co-president and co-CEO of Outbox Enterprises, where he oversees marketing, sales and strategic planning.
In addition, Rosen has been recognized for both his philanthropic activities and entrepreneurship by various groups, such as the University of Southern California, the American Jewish Committee and the Ellis Island foundation.
