The cost if the New York Rangers miss the playoffs
If the NHL playoffs started today, April 8, the New York Rangers would be out of the mix and in a report in the New York Times, the paper spells out just how costly that could be for the team's owners. The Rangers have two games left this season, a home-and-home stand with the Philadelphia Flyers, which the team is chasing for one of those last playoff spots, so there is a good chance the team could still make the post-season. But if not, the team stands to lose an estimated $2 million in ticket revenue per home playoff game, and hundreds of thousands of dollars more in concessions and merchandising expenditures.
