Gavin DeGraw spent his whole summer on the road, hitting big cities and small towns across the U.S., but the singer-songwriter from the Catskills doesn’t show any signs of slowing his headlining tour. He recently announced additional dates that will keep the music going through the fall.

The string of performances begins August 23 in Wantagh, NY, and continues through DeGraw’s October 25 show in New Orleans, LA. The 34-date leg will criss-cross the country, stopping in clubs and theaters in all regions of the U.S. and featuring one date north of the border on October 2 in Vancouver, BC.

After wrapping the current leg of his North American tour, DeGraw will head overseas for the second leg of his European tour. The 13-date trek kicks off November 3 in Stockholm, Sweden. But following his November 19 performance in Manchester, England, it’s back to the States for DeGraw, who has two early-December gigs scheduled on the East Coast.

These are just the latest developments in what has already proven to be a busy year for the musician, best known for 2004’s ubiquitous hit “I Don’t Want to Be.” DeGraw has followed a heavy tour schedule since February in support of his 2008 eponymous album. The record, DeGraw’s second studio effort, peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard 200 charts.

The new album is an exploration of DeGraw’s edgy side. “I felt like I had satisfied a lot of the sweeter stuff on my first record, and I want the Yin and Yang of it. I wanted to put a little more edge on it this time.” DeGraw noted on his Web site. “You don’t want to always be pigeon-holed as the ‘sweet and nice’ guy singing ‘sweet and nice’ songs.”

DeGraw debuted in 2003 with “Chariot,” which he rereleased with a disc of “stripped” acoustic recordings in 2004. The record — and DeGraw — gained a flood of mainstream attention when teen television drama “One Tree Hill” chose the single “I Don’t Want To Be” as its theme song.
