As Designers from all over the world descended upon New York City to showcase their new Fall/Winter collections for New York Fashion week, February 9–16, Guns N’ Roses were preparing to rock New York. The band played the Roseland Ballroom Friday night, February 10, as the first show of the seven-date tour they announced at the end of January.

After finishing a tour of 40 plus cities across Latin America and the United States at the end of 2011, which marked the band’s first tour together in five years, Guns N’ Roses shocked fans when they announced the plans for this new tour. However, even more surprising than the quick turnaround between the seemingly back-to-back tours is the choice of venues.

Unlike this past fall when the band played to sold out crowds of 18,000, this time around, Guns N’ Roses decided to keep things intimate. This seven date tour is making stops only at small club venues. Three of the seven shows were planned to align with Fashion Week in New York City, and the band will make single stops in Chicago, IL; Detroit, MI; Silver Spring, MD; and end in Atlantic City, NJ. The three dates in New York City worked to soothe the hurt feelings of local fans when the band skipped over the Big Apple in the fall of 2011.

As a highlight of the tour, Guns N’ Roses will return to play at Webster Hall this Wednesday, February 15, 2012, 24 years after their historic performance at the venue, which was formerly named The Ritz. MTV taped and aired Guns N’ Roses’ 1988 performance as part of their “Live at the Ritz” series that was a staple of Saturday nights in the 1980’s. In honor of the return of Guns N’ Roses, Webster Hall is returning to its former moniker, “The Ritz.” The name change will go into effect on Wednesday.

To cap off the end of a successful year, the original lineup of Guns N’ Roses will be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in April 2012 and rumors continue to circle about the current band working on new music.

With Axl Rose taking to Facebook to post the message, “when the time is right, the stage will ignite,” Guns N’ Roses fans are hoping the rest of 2012 will prove to be a big year for the band.
