A good week! The five highest grossing productions on Broadway were: Wicked $1,468,400 at 100% capacity; The Lion King $1,291,898 at 100%; Jersey Boys $1,211,053 at 100%; Mary Poppins $1,191,101 at 98%; and Beauty and the Beast at almost 100% capacity.

Overall, ticket sales achieved $18,420,632 this past week, a slight drop from the previous week’s report of $18,547,128. That’s still an 8.6% increase in ticket sales over the same time last season and a 10% increase in attendance.

Other productions reporting full or almost full houses were: Hairspray, Mamma Mia!, and Spring Awakening.

Only Deuce, playing at the Music Box Theatre, dropped below the 50% capacity, reporting revenue of $193,561 with attendance just over 43%.

Xanadu opened at the Helen Hayes Theatre to good reviews and $230,521 in ticket sales. Attendance was reported to be 75%, down about 10% from the last reporting period when still in previews. However, the day after opening day, Xanadu had the honor of breaking the one-day ticket sales box-office record at the Hayes, at $150,000. Small potatoes compared to other theatres, but then the Hayes only seats 596.

Les Miserables saw a drop in attendance this past week of 11.4%; Rent saw a drop of about 10%.
