Top Sellers Power Ranking Methodology

TicketNews developed Exclusive Top Sellers Rankings and Top Sellers Power Scores to rank the top primary, secondary, and combined ticket sellers.*

Top Sellers Power Scores are calculated based on web traffic received by a ticket seller's Web site. Using data from sites within the TicketNetwork ExchangeTM, the world's largest secondary ticket market exchange, Web site traffic has been shown to be a good estimator of the number of transactions made by a seller. Power Scores are highly correlated at a statistically significant level with the number of transactions from the TicketNetwork ExchangeTM.

Since the sum of all sellers' power scores equals 100 in any given category, an individual seller's Power Score represents its category-specific significance. Top Seller Power Scores should only be used to compare sellers within a particular category, and not across categories.

Three factors obtained from multiple independent resources are used to calculate a Top Seller Power Score:

  1. Number of unique visitors (IP addresses visiting a website in a 24-hour period).
  2. Number of visits (a series of one or more page requests by a visitor without 30 consecutive minutes of inactivity).
  3. Page views (the average number of unique pages viewed by a unique visitor).

Hundreds of ticket selling sites are included in the rankings, but only the top ten rankings in the primary and secondary categories and the top twenty in the combined category are published on the site. To suggest a site to be added to the rankings, email info@ticketnews.com.

*According to the TicketLiquidator Ticket Industry Glossary, a primary ticket seller is involved with the initial sale of a ticket by either the venue or a primary ticketing agent to a purchaser; most consumers purchase tickets from primary ticket sellers. A secondary ticket seller is involved with the reselling of tickets to a new buyer; most tickets sold on the secondary market were initially purchased on the primary market.
