Ticket Summit News
Ticket Summit, created and hosted by TicketNews parent company TicketNetwork, is the leading trade show and conference that focuses on the secondary ticket industry. Launched as an annual event in the summer of 2006, the conference now is a biannual event with a show in New York City in January and one in Las Vegas in July.
The event is attended by several hundred ticket brokers and ticketing professionals who are experts and leaders within the ticket community. Ticket Summit offers attendees great networking opportunities within the industry, in addition to seminars and workshops dedicated to helping them build their businesses.
In addition to brokers and ticketing professionals, Ticket Summit also offers attendees the chance to meet representatives from the theater and professional sports communities, and technology and software sectors.
Billboard's Ray Waddell to open Ticket Summit 2009 Vegas
Ray Waddell, Billboard’s Executive Director of Content and Programming for Touring and Live Entertainment, is scheduled to present the welcome address at Ticket Summit 2009 Vegas, running from July 15-17 at the Venetian Resort Hotel Casino in Las Vegas. StubHub President Chris Tsakalakis to speak at Ticket Summit
StubHub President Chris Tsakalakis has been tapped to deliver a keynote speech at Ticket Summit 2009 Vegas.
Although Tsakalakis took a circuitous route to the secondary ticket industry, he is now one of its giants. After graduating from the prestigious Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania with a B.S. in Economics, Tsakalakis worked as a consultant for Bain & Company. To call Robert Tuchman a sports fan would be an understatement. Tuchman, executive vice president of the Premiere Corporate Division of Premiere Global Sports, is such a big fan, in fact, that earlier this year he wrote the book The 100 Sporting Events You Must See Live: An Insider’s Guide to Creating the Sports Experience of a Lifetime, and he is bringing that knowledge to his speaking engagement at Ticket Summit 2009 Vegas, scheduled for July 15-17. Yahoo makes its debut at Ticket Summit in Las Vegas
Internet pioneer Yahoo is scheduled to sponsor a panel presentation next month at Ticket Summit Las Vegas. The conference, which runs from July 15-17 at the Venetian Resort Hotel Casino, welcomes Yahoo to the list of presenters for the very first time this year. Andy Cotten, senior sales manager for Yahoo Search Marketing and Display Advertising, will participate in a panel entitled “PPC Strategy and Beyond”, scheduled for July 16. Full Story...

At Ticket Summit 2009 Las Vegas, running from July 15-17 at the Venetian Resort Hotel Casino, Brooks is scheduled to speak on a panel concerning the future of Las Vegas venues and theaters, entitled "The Future of Vegas Venues and the Theatre Industry." Marcia Cooper, Harvey Levine of ClickTixHub to speak at Ticket Summit
Marcia Cooper and Harvey Levine, owners of ClickTixHub.com, will share the lessons they have learned in ticket resale at Ticket Summit this July 15-17 at the Venetian Resort Hotel Casino in Las Vegas. The two will speak on a panel discussing best practices for customer service, a topic they know something about.
Cooper and Levine were in their sixties when they started their ticket auction business. It was the year 2000, and both had just been “downsized,” as Cooper puts it, out of their corporate careers. Author of Ticketmaster/Live Nation 'White Paper' to speak at Ticket Summit
James Hurwitz, author of a 58-page White Paper against the proposed merger between Ticketmaster and Live Nation, will be one of the keynote speakers at Ticket Summit, July 15-17 at the Venetian Resort Hotel Casino in Las Vegas.
Hurwitz is a retiree from the Federal Trade Commission, where he specialized in competition policy matters for the Office of the General Counsel and Bureau of Competition, and he wrote the report for the American Antitrust Institute. To read the report click here. Full Story...

Continuing to build on their momentum to attract new speakers, the organizers of Ticket Summit Las Vegas this week announced three more first-time participants for the trade show and conference.
Speaking at the event for the first time will be Diane Lancaster Gibes, president of PRSA Las Vegas, which is the Las Vegas chapter of the Public Relations Society of America; Mark Guarino, an editor and analyst with the consumer, media and market research company Mintel; and from the UK, Dominic Titchener-Barrett, managing director of DTB International Ltd., a sports hospitality and event ticketing company. Building on its prior success in attracting top-flight participants to the event, Ticket Summit Las Vegas has signed up several first-time speakers and panelists for the July 15-17 conference and trade show, including renowned ticket industry expert Dr. Marianne Jennings, an economics professor at Arizona State University (ASU).
The July event, being held for the fourth consecutive year at the popular Venetian Resort Hotel Casino, will mark Jennings' first appearance at the convention, and she is scheduled to be one of the keynote speakers who will address ticketing and the economy. Chris Tsakalakis, President of StubHub, and Howard Lefkowitz, President and CEO of Vegas.com, are among the speakers lined up for the fourth annual Ticket Summit Las Vegas, July 15-17, at Venetian Resort Hotel Casino.

For the nearly 400 ticket professionals last week who attended the first annual Ticket Summit NYC at the Waldorf=Astoria Hotel, 2009 will be a year of change as they look to keep their businesses thriving during the current recession.

Changes in industry and economy have ticket executives cautious about 2009
With the economy in turmoil, the ticket industry will need to band together and look at ways to continue to forge relationships and new partnerships to survive, a group of high-powered ticket professionals told a packed audience Wednesday at Ticket Summit NYC.
During the keynote discussion panel, "Who's on First? The New Paradigm in the Ticket Marketplace," executives from major ticket companies made it clear that the broker community, long the second-class citizen of the live entertainment world, had not only arrived but now has a rightful seat at the table. And with the public generally accepting the secondary ticket market, artists, sports teams, venues and primary ticketers should look to partner with brokers to combat the effects of the weak economy. Ticket Summit 2009 panel: Broadway ticket sales and the secondary market
During the first panel session of Ticket Summit 2009 NYC, theatre and ticket industry insiders discussed forging partnerships on Broadway in "Break a Leg! Get in on the Broadway Act." While the Great White Way has lagged behind the concert and sports industries when it comes to incorporating ticket resale in its business plan, both sides hoped to amend the relationship between theatre's primary and secondary markets.
Producer Ken Davenport, of Davenport Theatrical, noted that a partnership isn't out of the question. "I watch primary ticket sales, but I wish I had more info from [brokers]," he noted. "Secondary sales are the best gauge of word of mouth [for a show]." Full Story...

The message to the event ticket industry on the first day of Ticket Summit NYC was that for the business to survive and thrive in 2009, brokers, venues, teams, the Arts and ticket executives from the primary and secondary markets will have to roll up their sleeves, work together and concentrate on the fundamental approach of keeping the consumer happy.

More than 500 ticket brokers, ticketing executives, venue and sports team representatives will descend on the Waldorf=Astoria in Manhattan tomorrow, January 6, for Ticket Summit NYC, and the three-day conference and trade show could not come at a more important time for the ticket industry.
Against the backdrop of a serious recession, the landscape surrounding the ticket industry continues to shift. More people are embracing the secondary ticket market than ever before, but they are also looking for bargains.
