Madison Square Garden (MSG) once again took No. 1 in TicketNews’ exclusive venues rankings, besting all rivals for five consecutive weeks.
MSG benefits from a mix of sports and concert draws this season. The arena is home to the NHL’s New York Rangers and the NBA’s New York Knicks, who, in the midst of “Linsanity”, led this week’s Top Sports Events rankings.
In music, Bruce Springsteen takes the stage in April, as does Cirque Du Soleil’s tribute show, “Michael Jackson the Immortal”.
With the exception of the Eugene O’Neill Theatre (in at No. 2), home to the blockbuster musical “The Book of Mormon”, the majority of the week’s entrants were indoor sports/concert arenas. These venues benefit heavily from NHL and NBA play, as well as Madonna’s upcoming world tour.
This list includes American Airlines Arena in Miami at No. 4, Staples Center in Los Angeles at No. 5, TD Garden in Boston at No. 6, and Wells Fargo Centerin Philadelphia at No. 8.
