TicketNews has released its exclusive Events rankings for the week ending Sunday, October 3, and Lady Gaga has found her way to the top spot for the first time since mid-April, power scoring a 5.02. This ended the thirteen-week reign of Wicked as the ranking’s number one event, with the hit Broadway musical slipping to number two (4.14) this week.
Other musical artists joining Lady Gaga in the top ten were Roger Waters (three, 2.82), Justin Bieber (four, 1.93) and Michael Buble (nine, 1.26).Theater productions in the top ten also included Jersey Boys (five, 1.74) and Lion King (six, 1.51), as well as seasonal favorite the Radio City Christmas Spectacular (eight, 1.32). Once again, the highest ranking sports team on the list was the Dallas Cowboys, finishing the week at number seven (1.34).
After a week out of the top spot, the Dallas Cowboys returned this week to claim number one in this week’s Top Sports Events rankings, power scoring a solid 3.28. Second on the list were tickets for the Texas Longhorns’ (2.73) October 2 Red River Shootout against the Oklahoma Sooners at the Cotton Bowl. As NBA season gets underway, basketball made a minor showing in the sports top ten this week, with the Miami Heat hitting at number four (2.66), the Los Angeles Lakers in at number six (2.20) and the New York Knicks at number seven (2.16).
With Lady Gaga atop the Events rankings this week, it’s no surprise that she also rules the Top Concert Events rankings, power scoring a monster 14.23. Roger Waters landed in second place with an impressive 7.30, and Justin Bieber finished the week at number three (5.50). Usher, kicking off his OMG tour in November at the Key Arena in Seattle, WA, placed well at number six (2.43). Elton John, who makes a number of theater and concert appearances this fall, made the Concert rankings at number eight (2.39) this week, and holiday favorites the Trans-Siberian Orchestra were in at number nine (2.39). News that Cher will end her Vegas run in February of 2011 has certainly kept her ticket sales strong, with the singer making a rare appearance in the Concert rankings this week at number ten (2.04).
“Wicked” again led both TicketNews’ Top Broadway and Top Theater categories, power scoring a 27.46 and 22.11, respectively. Also making the Broadway top ten this week were Top Event rankings repeats “Radio City Christmas Spectacular” (two, 9.63), “Jersey Boys” (three, 8.03), and “Lion King” (four, 4.82). Al Pacino’s limited run in The Merchant of Venice stayed strong in the rankings, hitting at number five (4.11). Despite opening to negative reviews in April, The Addams Family continues to sell very well, in at number seven (3.07) this week.
The Top Vegas Events rankings had Cher extending her top seller honors for one more week, power scoring an amazing 70.84. Celine Dion returns to Las Vegas in March of 2011 after a four year absence, and ranked well this week coming in at number three (6.79). Barry Manilow, a frequent visitor to the Vegas rankings, made his return this week at number ten (0.66). Cirque Du Soleil productions continued to dominate the Vegas top ten this week, with O at two (7.47), The Beatles: Love at four (5.49) and Viva Elvis in at six (1.01).
