For three weeks this spring, songman Neil Young will cross the country on a 10-city solo tour of U.S. theaters.
The solo tour will feature a mix from Young’s newest album, “Le Noise,” as well as hits and deep tracks that span his lengthy career. Young’s spring 2011 journey begins April 15 at the Performing Arts Center in Durham, NC, and concludes with a May 6-7 stand at the Chicago Theatre in Chicago, IL.
Along the way, the Canadian singer-songwriter has two-nighters booked for April 19-20 at the Wang Theatre in Boston, MA; April 24-25 at Avery Fisher Hall in New York, NY; April 27-28 at the Hippodrome Theatre in Baltimore, MD; and April 30-May 1 at Tower Theatre in Upper Darby, PA.
Public ticket sales start this Friday, March 11, in most tour markets. Prices vary slightly from city to city, with Detroit tickets coming in on the low end ($45 to $175), and Upper Darby tickets marking the high end for prices ($69.50 – $250) on Ticketmaster.com.
For at least two dates of the tour, Young will be joined by special guest Bert Jansch. The Scottish folk musician will join his Canadian counterpart for both Boston dates, according to the venue’s Web site. It is unclear whether Jansch will support throughout the tour, as he did for Young’s 2010 Twisted Road Tour.
That previous tour for the rock veteran launched in May 2010 with a handful of dates and was soon bolstered with the announcement of more spring and summer concerts.
In addition to his solo efforts, Young will also regroup with one of his earliest musical projects — Buffalo Springfield. The ’60s folk-rock group will perform at Bonnaroo 2011 and is rumored to have more extensive tour plans for fall.
