New Kids on the Block has postponed the start of its much anticipated summer tour from May 28 to June 4 due to production delays, according to tour promoter Live Nation. The change also caused the cancellation of five concerts from May 29 to June 3 and the relocation of its June 7 concert at Nissan Pavilion to the Patriot Center. The tour’s original kick-off date on May 28 in Atlanta, GA, at Lakewood Amphitheatre has been moved to June 4.

Cancelled concerts are May 29 at Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Birmingham, AL; May 30 at Ford Amphitheatre in Tampa, FL; May 31 at Cruzan Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach, FL; June 2 at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre in Charlotte, NC; and June 3 at Time Warner Cable Music Pavilion in Raleigh, NC.

Beginning May 12, primary tickets ordered online and over the phone will be refunded automatically. Refunding for tickets purchased through Blockbuster outlets or at the venue box offices will begin on May 13.

The summer leg is an extension of North American tour legs in fall 2008 and spring 2009. The New Kids are touring behind the September 2008 release of comeback album “The Block,” which is the group’s first studio recording since 1994’s “Face the Music.”
