Pop-punk band 5 Seconds of Summer released their first full-length, self-titled album with a bang, topping the Billboard albums chart in its first week. The record sold 259,000 copies between its release on July 22 and July 27, according to Nielsen SoundScan. This is the third-largest debut of 2014, and the fourth-largest sales week. The band’s opening is also the biggest debut for a group in nearly eight years, the last one that was bigger being Daughtry in 2006.

The Australian group also released an EP with their first songs earlier this year, She Looks So Perfect, which included their radio hit by the same name. This song was very successful internationally, reaching number one on iTunes in 39 countries within two days of its pre-order release. It also hit number one on the singles charts in Ireland, UK, Australia, and New Zealand. In the US, it reached number 32 on Billboard Hot 100.

5 Seconds of Summer has also announced a North American tour, to begin July 2015.
