AC/DC tour plots latest North American course through late fall
Hard rock heavy-hitters AC/DC blasted back into North America last week for the latest leg of their Black Ice World Tour with a show on July 28 at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, MA. Since the late summer jaunt was announced earlier this year, more than a dozen dates have been added to the itinerary.
More than 20 performance dates remain on the rock crew's upcoming itinerary, which is booked in the U.S. through late fall with a November 6 concert at Frank Erwin Center in Austin, TX, and followed by a single show south of the border on November 12 at Foro Sol in Mexico City. The group hits the stage next on August 6 at Magnetic Hill Music Festival in Moncton, NB.
AC/DC will ride the rock 'n' roll train through a number of major markets in the U.S. and Canada on this leg of the trek. Stops include an August 14 gig at United Center in Chicago, IL, an August 29 concert at BC Place in Vancouver, BC, a September 8 show at Honda Center in Anaheim, CA, and an October 3 gig at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, NV.
Similar to its earlier 2008-2009 North American tour legs, select seats for the upcoming dates are using Ticketmaster's paperless ticketing technology, including those seats sold through the AC/DC fan club. About 10 percent of each venue's seating is reserved for fan club members, who are limited to two tickets each.
With a few exceptions, most fan club allotments for the August and September shows have sold out, though limited numbers are still available for the later half of the 2009 trek. Only one upcoming show has sold out completely, according to the band's Web site: August 10 at Scotiabank Place in Ottawa, ON.
Comprised of brothers Angus and Malcolm Young, as well as long-time bandmates Brian Johnson, Cliff Williams and Phil Rudd, AC/DC is continuing to tour behind October 2008's "Black Ice." The group's first album in eight years topped record charts internationally and achieved double-Platinum status in the U.S. just about a month after its release.
The band launched its Black Ice World Tour in late October 2008 at the Wachovia Arena in Wilkes Barre, PA. After closing out the year with its North American shows, the band completed another round of U.S. dates in January.
