AEG Live buys Philly's Keswick Theatre
Expanding its national footprint, AEG Live has acquired ownership of the Philadelphia area’s premiere live music venue, The Keswick Theatre. All of the venue’s currently existing staff will be coming on board under the direction of Judith Herbst, general manager, and Roy Snyder, senior talent buyer, who will work closely with Jon Hampton, AEG Live senior talent buyer for the Philadelphia Region.
The 1,350-capacity theatre opened its doors in 1928, and was originally designed by acclaimed architect Horace Trumbauer, creator of the world-renowned Philadelphia Museum of Art. The venue has grown into one of the East Coast’s premiere outlets for live entertainment, presenting a broad range of internationally acclaimed performers geared to virtually every taste and interest. The Keswick Theatre was named one of Pollstar’s “Top 50 Theatre Venues.”
“AEG Live has always valued great real estate as the anchor for that expansion,” Randy Phillips, president and CEO of AEG Live, said in a statement. “The opportunity of stewarding this beautiful theatre as we enter the Philadelphia market is a rare opportunity for a company like ours.”
Among the artists who have performed, or will perform, at the Keswick Theatre include Dr. John, B.B. King, James Blunt, the Pat Metheny Trio and Kenny G.
